Where does the money come from?
Where does the money go?
We are contracted by multiple municipalities to perform animal control and sheltering services. These contracts help cover the cost of investigations our ALE officers perform and basic sheltering of strays. But only 42% of our revenue comes from these contracts. Your support is critical to helping us save lives!
We are a local, independent nonprofit not affiliated with national organizations such as ASPCA or Humane Society of the United States and we rely on donations to fund our work. Thank you for helping make all of this possible!
Shelter Fees and Darren's happy tail
Have you ever wondered why some of our adoption fees are so high? Our shelter fees, which account for 20% of our yearly revenue, help us recover the cost of putting so many young animals through foster care, not to mention helping us pay for medical procedures and lower adoption fees on harder-to-adopt animals. Without these adoption fees, 20% of our life-saving work wouldn’t be possible!
Darren arrived at Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region as a stray. He was scared and didn’t want to be touched. No one came to claim him and because of COVID-19, he couldn’t be transferred to a pig rescue. After days of feeding him and cleaning his wounds, the staff at HSPPR gained his trust, and he let them take him outside. He was so excited that he ran around the pen and let staff members pet him. After a month in the behavior program, Darren finally found the perfect family to adopt him! Because of your kindness, he got a second chance at a happy, healthy life. THANK YOU!
